Our Response to COVID
The COVID pandemic has been hard on everyone, but especially the elderly. We assisted our elderly clients who didn’t have anyone to help them; we had meals delivered, we helped set up Instacart to deliver groceries, and we helped so many people get vaccine appointments that we lost track. (Many of our elderly clients are not computer savvy and were not in a position to sign up online for a vaccine.)
At the beginning of the pandemic when people couldn’t get masks, we enlisted the help of our children and started making them. We gave them to clients and we donated masks and snacks to Gaylord hospital. When vaccines started to become more available, we ordered vaccine card holders and handed out thousands to our clients and other Wallingford residents. We also ran a free scarecrow contest for kids as a way to offer them a safe Halloween activity. The pandemic taught us that we all need to work together to get through tough times.
